Allowable Stresses for ASTM A350 LF2 Applied to ASME B31.3

Both Class 1 and Class 2 of ASTM A350 LF2 forgings can be used for piping applications of ASME B31.3. The piping applications include common process piping and high pressure piping of of Chapter IX. The basic allowable stresses in tension and allowable stresses in tension for ASTM A350 LF2 are listed in the Table A-1 and Table K-1, respectively. In design calculations, allowable stresses in shear shall be 0.80 times the basic allowable stresses/ allowable stresses in tension tabulated in Table A-1 or Table K-1 respectively; allowable stresses in bearing shall be 1.60 times that value; allowable stresses in compression shall be no greater than the basic allowable stresses/ allowable stresses in tension as tabulated in Table A-1 or Table K-1 respectively.
