ASTM A182 F51 for ASME B31.3 Process Piping

April 19, 2021

ASTM A182 Grade F51 is a standard duplex stainless steel with nominal composition of 22Cr–5Ni–3Mo–N. The ASTM A182 F51 forgings may be furnished as flanges, fittings, valve parts or other pressure vessel components. The ASME B31.3 process piping code has endorsed this steel as a listed material. The design minimum temperature for ASTM A182 F51 without impact testing is -60°F [-51°C]. At moderately elevated temperature, this steel may develop embrittlement after servce, thus, the maximum design temperature is generally restricted to 600°F [315°C].
