The drawing of ASME B16.11 socket welding (SW) cap. B: socket bore diameter; C: socket wall thickness; K: end wall thickness; J: socket depth.

The drawing of ASME B16.11 forged cap with threaded ends. B: minimum length of perfect thread; L₂: effective length of external thread; P: End-to-End caps; G: minimum end wall thickness.

The ASME B16.11 cap, either socket welding or threaded, is used to seal an open end of pipe. SW caps are available in pressure ratings Class 3000, 6000, 9000; threaded caps are available in pressure ratings Class 3000 and 6000.
